BSA 226 - Character Design Basic References

Image
When it comes to inspiration, I quite like the style of anime. The main inspiration is the music video to Shelter by Madeon. This video was animated by A-1 Studios and follows the story of a girl in her digital world. I quite like the design of the character as it portrays her innocence, having been living alone for an extended amount of time. I am going for a similar style of innocence in my character design, however design wise I am leaning more towards the Scott Pilgrim style of face. I am currently experimenting with specific eye designs and trying to find a sense of innocence to give my character. The secondary character is a fallen star. It is based off the profile picture to the right. However it will be white with a slight purple glow and will not have the top hat or tail. Ultimately the character design style will probably be similar to RWBYs style of character, As it is similar to the anime character proportions but in 3d. I will probably also look at colour scheme...

BSA 225 - Candlestick

Image
This lesson we worked on modelling a candlestick in maya. This was achieved by using a reference then using the extrude tool to match the reference with a model from a front view. After the modelling was done we assigned a copper material to the candlestick. The copper did not look like anything special until it was rendered in mental ray.

BSA 226 - Character First Research

I know that my character is going to be based off one I used in the past. A character by the same name I used last year. However her clothes are going to be different, she will have a different facial structure, and her hair will be different. This was the original expression sheet for the old character. The new design will bear similarities to this old one but will also be different in rather major ways. However, this is still the same character that the new one is based off.

Lastly she goes to offer a teddy bear with a top hat, but she drops it. As the top hat drops of...
